ABBA Museum in Stockholm

This museum's motto is "Walk In - Dance Out" and it's true! From the moment you enter, you're surrounded by all things ABBA. From original costumes and memorabilia, to interactive exhibits, there is so much to do, see and listen to!

Getting to the ABBA Museum

Entrance to the Museum

The ABBA Museum is located on the island of Djurgårdsvägen in Stockholm, Sweden. This part of the city is known for its museums, and is easily accessible by bus or ferry, depending where you stay. Since we were in Old Town (Gamla Stan), we found Ferry Line 82 to be the easiest to take. Your public transportation pass allows you to take ferries, the same way it allows you to take the metro or bus! It’s about a 15 minute ride and very picturesque.

The Story of ABBA

The Story of ABBA

The first part of the Museum focuses on the background of the 4 members of the famous singing group. Did you know that ABBA stands for the four names of the lead singers: Agnetha, Björn, Benny & Anni-Frid? They were all musicians in separate acts prior to coming together.

ABBA Phone

The famous ABBA telephone

Did you know there is a telephone in the Museum that only the 4 members of ABBA know the number to? Sadly it didn’t ring while we were there!

ABBA Memorabilia

Original ABBA Costumes

ABBA is known for their flashy costumes, and there are lots displayed at the Museum. You can also see instruments, fan letters, private photographs and awards. Even their iconic Waterloo Outfits are on display from when they won the Eurovision Competition in 1974!

Interactive Exhibits

Mamma Mia Costumes

Besides the countless photo ops you’ll come across, there are a few fun noteworthy interactive exhibits. You have the opportunity to record a portion of an ABBA song in a mini recording studio. Be aware – everyone can hear you singing but can’t hear the music so it’s actually more fun to be outside the booths than in them.

There is also an opportunity to practice your ABBA choreography on stage with holograms of the band. Who doesn’t love grooving to Dancing Queen?!

ABBA Museum Tickets

Replica Recording Studio

The ABBA Museum is open every day of the week (except select holidays) but the hours vary depending on the season. It is typically open 10:00am – 6:00pm (often later in the Summer). There is also a bar/restaurant on site, if you’re inclined to grab a beverage after your visit. An adult ticket costs 290 SEK (~$28) but there are reduced tickets for children under 15 and Seniors.
