If you’re planning a trip to Bath and wondering where to stay, Hotel Indigo kept coming up in our research, and we’re glad we listened. We spent three nights here last April as part of our England road trip, and it ended up being one of our favorite hotel stays of the whole trip. Here’s our honest take on everything, from the rooms to breakfast to the downtown location.
About Hotel Indigo Bath

Hotel Indigo Bath is a boutique, four-star hotel set inside a beautifully restored 18th-century Georgian terrace on South Parade. It’s part of the IHG family, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it feels like a chain, because it genuinely doesn’t. The hotel opened in 2020 after a major restoration project that managed to preserve all the charm of the original building while giving it a fresh, modern interior. Each room is themed around the architects and novelists who shaped Bath’s identity, so there’s a lot of personality! There are 166 guest rooms in total, plus two on-site restaurants: Brasserie Beau and The Elder.
Location

This is where Hotel Indigo Bath really shines. The hotel sits on South Parade, a quiet, pretty street that somehow puts you within a five-minute walk of basically everything worth seeing in Bath. The Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, Pulteney Bridge are all walkable! The Bath Spa train station is also just a short walk away, which can make arriving and leaving completely stress-free. If you’re coming by car, there is a paid garage directly across the street from the lobby.

The Room

Hotel Indigo Bath leans fully into its Georgian surroundings while keeping things fresh and a little playful on the inside. Our standard room had a card-themed design with quirky artwork. One of the things that surprised us most was how spacious it felt, both the room itself and the bathroom, which is not something you always expect from a standard room in a historic European building.
Breakfast

Breakfast is legit at Hotel Indigo Bath. There’s a buffet spread with pastries, yogurts, fruit, and all the continental options, but you also get to order a hot dish off a menu. We’re talking omelets, a proper full English breakfast, avocado toast. Everything we tried was delicious, and it set us up perfectly for full days of exploring.
Amenities

Rooms come well-equipped: Large, comfortable beds, Nespresso machines, a complimentary minibar with drinks and snacks, air conditioning, a 40-inch TV, and either a walk-in rainfall shower or roll-top bath. There’s also free Wi-Fi throughout. The hotel has two restaurants on-site, room service, valet parking for an additional fee, and a concierge.
Price and Value

Pricing varies by season and room type at Hotel Indigo Bath. For what you’re getting, including the location, the quality of the rooms, and that breakfast, we think it’s excellent value. Bath has no shortage of hotels, but finding one this central and this well designed was such a win. We’d book it again without hesitation.

Is Hotel Indigo Bath Worth It?

Yes, without question. If you’re visiting Bath and want a hotel that’s genuinely enjoyable to come back to at the end of the day, not just a place to sleep, Hotel Indigo Bath delivers. The location alone is worth it, but combine that with thoughtfully designed rooms, a standout breakfast, and real boutique character in a stunning Georgian building, and it checks just about every box.
It’s a great fit for couples, first-time visitors to Bath, and anyone doing a UK road trip who wants a comfortable, well-located home base. We spent three nights here and really enjoyed our stay!
